We cannot stress enough the importance of making quick and accurate returns of salmon catches, even if nothing has been caught. Recording catch data is one (perhaps the best, certainly the most cost effective) way of determining the success of our river restoration works. Although affected by short term variations in weather and water conditions, the longer term data set will build an accurate picture of our salmon runs. Catch returns can be made quickly via our online form for both Passport and non-Passport waters. Most of our reporting is from the Wye. Where a salmon has come from another river we will state accordingly.

9:38 pm Whitney: A good condition 34 inch Cock fish, approx 16 lb, on small Irish shrimp fly from the tail of Locksters (beat 5) for John Levick. A 14 - 15 lb coloured cock fish from Beat 3 on a "Celtic Cascade" for Jim Cumming.

7:58 pm Nyth and Tyrcelyn: Matt Tricks caught a 16lb fish from the Kitty, at dusk on the last cast of the day.

7:00 pm Glanwye: 13lbs for Tom Wills; the 5th today.

6:20 pm Wyesham: 12.5 lbs for Tim Howard.

6:19 pm Upper Bigsweir: Fish of 12, 10, 15, 10, 6 lbs for Nathan Jubb, all from Little Run on a Willie Gunn.

5:06 pm Glanwye: Fish of 27, 16, 8 and 7 lbs, with 3 lost.

5:05 pm Llangoed and Lower Llanstephan: A productive couple of hours for Tim Hughes: a 9 lb cock fish from Dolmeudwy, then an 8.5 lb hen from the Orchard, both on an Usk Grub. Followed a couple of casts later by an angry cock fish of 20lb on a small cascade.

7:51 pm Glanwye: 10 and 12 lb hens for Guy Stanford, from tail of Church House and Lady Pool respectively.

6:44 pm Wyesham: 12lbs for Gordon Richards this morning, before the river rose.

6:42 pm Nyth and Tyrcelyn: First Wye salmon for Simon Daws, a cracking 19 1/2lb fish from the Turn Pool. 12lb fish for Bill Godfrey from Little Kitty. All four fish today from The Nyth safely returned.

6:41 pm Cadora Backs: 13 lb stale hen prior to river rising. Also late report of 12 lb cock fish from the 1st October for Maurice Hudson.
