A beautiful day on a beautiful beat, cloudless skies and very warm, masses of fly life but mostly in spinner form, very few flies actually emerging today but I did see one Mayfly, one or two Large Brook Duns and a few other upswings and caddis but rising trout were few and far between and quite small. Nevertheless I persevered with dries and took 6 trout and missed/lost a few others too so it was a lovely day on the river.

Another cold start of the day. No flies seen, so forced to fish with long leader, an heavy nymph on the point and a selection of spiders. All fishes taken on the a small grey spider, size 14. Best fish, a pretty healthy BT around 2 pounds, safely released

I arrived at the beat (which was very easy to find as per the instructions) at around 10am. There was a very cold and constant north easterly wind blowing down the river. I found it practically impossible to cast up-stream, and wasn't a pleasant experience in general. I stayed for around an hour, there were no rises and I had no bites from trotting a couple of nymphs along the bottom, so I decided to call it quits.

Felt like March not May. Fished nymphs below a Klink for a couple of hours without success. Switched to a dry and landed a WBT immediately , which was a surprise as there were no fish rising . That was it for the day.
