Second time for both of us as 'beginner 'grayling fishermen, although reasonably experienced trout/sea.Had a session last October with a guide.Lovely day out, despite showers, but no fish!Couldn't fish the top run very well as rising river and too risky to cross. We put it down to rain, rising water, probably lack of ability to get the nymph down far enough or downright incompetance! Great to be on the river again.Bull in field with ladies and calves were semi- interested, but not a problem.

3 anglers. The beat is not long and there is only one run that is really fishable (at least at the time we were there).
But the fishes were present. The biggest grayling was 47cm and we caught a 49 cm trout.

Another interesting day at this beat and it didn't disappoint. Overcast day but no rain. Recent rainfall made life difficult with river full of leaves and twigs. Fished Czech style with jig hook nymphs and caught all on a Jonathan Barnes pattern (dropper) with my Black and Green PTN ignored. All Grayling from 10/12 inch. River started to rise later in the day, around 4 o,clock and wind picked up which made me call it a day. Lost two good fish. A nice touch was meeting the farmer who advised me not to worry but his cow's - "they are very friendly". He was right. A good day was had by all. Getting to like this beat very much.

Air temperature was about 55 deg F, and although the river was dropping nicely it was quite murky.
I did get a good pull midday, and at about 6 pm just before I packed in, I was into a fish of under 10 lb for about 5 seconds at the tail of Lady Alexanders pool.
It was my first time on this beat and I will return, especially for the relatively easy wading along that pool.

Gale force winds but very little rain here during the night ( I know because I was sleeping in my car ! ) so I was not surprised to see the river full of leaves when I arrived, but I was not expecting it to be up and quite coloured. I knew the top section would be unfishable so I just fished along lady alexanders catch. Most of the fish caught czech nymphing and by the time I packed-up the river had come up another foot! Didn't even get a chance to fish near the pool. Grayling to 12" trout to 10"
