Enjoyable day on Abernant. A blustery upstream wind may have slowed activity but we caught fish throughout the beat mainly on bugging tactics. Mostly small 9-10 inch grayling
Two at 16 inches and a brown trout of around 2lb.

Fished Czech nymph for most of the day and,despite a very cold early morning, fish were feeding.
Late afternoon I switched to float-fished maggots and took the best of the grayling, up to about 1lb.

Perfect conditions on a beautiful beat. Despite employing all known tactics upstream, downstream, dry, nymph, wet, teams etc we only managed 1 x 10" oos trout and 1 x 12" grayling. In hindsight we maybe missed a trick by not putting enough colour on the nymph patterns. Great to get out of the office to enjoy Red Kites, Buzzards, Kingfishers and the lovely herd of black cattle.

Three salmon, 18lbs Cock fish, 12lbs hen fish and 6lbs cock fish! Brief period of activity or aggression before a rise in water levels. A fantastic session.

Most fish found in the middle of the beat around the faster water. Black pennell worked for most and spiders for others. Deep fished nymphs seemed to be uninteresting.

River was wonderful but fishing hard. Adam Fisher was with us for first three hours and was left scratching his head as well. We fished from 11:30 till nearly 5:00.

River low and clear and the weather was beautiful. Mild with blue skies and light winds. We fished the entire length and picked up fish to 1.5lb throughout. No big shoals but ones and twos here and there. Lovely day.

Nice weather with the river low and clear. Had Grayling up to 1.5lb plus a 3lb Chub. Fish spread out throughout the beat but particularly at the heads of the runs and in the fast run opposite the gate into the field.

Cold day with very few fish showing. 2 nice grayling 14" and 12" one on gnat and one on nymph - both from Abernant Stream. Couple of other decent fish hooked and released early.
