A couple of hours fishing in the evening. All caught on weigher nymphs of various sizes and colour.

1 Trout, 2 Grayling

River pretty low. All fish returned, all tiddlers. All bar one caught on nymph, the other on dry. Very few fish rising and hardly any flies hatching. Kingfishers and sand martins nesting in the bank.

5 Trout, 1 Grayling

As low as I have seen the mighty Wye, and hard work in the hot sun. 2 Trout from downstream in the morning, 2 more and 2 Grayling from below the Edw in the afternoon, with nothing in between

All fish caught on weighted nymphs. Fished variously the duo and french nymphing styles.

8 trout were caught on a streamer and the greyling was caught on a nymph. All fish were returned back to the river River was at a good height with lots of deep pools.

Great spot for safe wading while teaching a friend the basics of fly casting.Couple of fish caught and a few missed and lost.
Bottom nymph gold head pheasant tail did the job hung below dry.

After visiting the Wye in May and leaving very despondent at the distinct lack of life in and around the river it was nice to see one or two aquatic insects and a few rising trout this time.
The river looked good for a Salmon after the recent heavy rain with it carrying some extra water and being a nice beer colour so I was quietly confident of a pull. I spent about four and a half hours slowly fishing through Lady Alexander’s Catch and into Stone Catch. It was lovely casting a fly and letting it swing through the current, I did hook a trout and had a decent tug which may or may not have been a Salmon but I’m beginning to think the whole exercise is a nostalgic trip dreaming of how things used to be rather than a serious attempt to actually catch a Salmon with the numbers being what they are.
