Always a delight to visit this beautiful beat but we arrived with zero expectations for any decent fishing. We visited here in similar conditions last year in July and blanked then so were not too surprised to endure a similar experience. The fishing was bleak and so were the "other" fish too apart from a couple of 8oz Chub which put in a welcome appearance. But at least it was not too long a trek back to the car after a peaceful day.

Very hot day and gin clear water resulted in a frustrating days fishing with no fish caught. No sign of the fish anywhere. Beautiful setting.

It was overcast with light rain and conditions looked good. My son managed two barbel a 7lb 7oz and 10lb 8oz during daylight, I had a perch of about a pound. Same as previous day, as light went I caught four barbel in two hours to 8lb 14oz. Very enjoyable trip.

Conditions were bright and sunny but river seemed in good condition. We fished feeder and pellets/ luncheon meat into the flow. We both lost a fish a piece early to snags but managed a 7lb barbel early afternoon. Come alive as the light faded with three more barbel to 7lb 3oz and a 4lb chub. Lovely stretch of the Wye, shame about the down stream access( unreachable without a canoe) but no complaints here.
