Great fishing on a beautiful beat. Decent hatches all day, with sporadic rises - most action between 1 and 3pm. Olive emergers and duns did most of the hard work. Very hard wading and access also very difficult, especially at the top end. But worth the scrambling for some superb fish from superlative water.

River looking rather low, sluggish and coloured by algal bloom. Despite these unpromising conditions and a chilly downstream breeze, we found pockets of surface action from the start, but the really spectacular action began at around 2.30 when the breeze finally dropped and some very good fish began dimpling in the glides. All fish taken on dry fly (Comparaduns and CDC patterns) and many of them a good size (3@17” and 6@14-15”. Wonderful fishing !

Cloudy day with sunny spells. Plenty of fish rising but very intermittently. Missed loads of takes, just couldn't make decent contact. All fish taken on dry.

First time on this beat. 7”on Llanstephan gauge.
There are some lovely long glides, and back in the day when there were good salmon runs, some of the pools must have offered superb fly water and would have a joy to fish. All trout were small but two the grayling were sizable fish. I would say that it deserves a return visit, but my day was ruined by nasty fall. The high steep banks on the right bank near the top are extremely dangerous in places. Part of the bank collapsed while I was exiting resulting in a drop onto rocks and a serious shoulder injury.Which rather soured the day.

Fished from 8am, didn't have a bite all morning. First fish caught around 1pm then roughly every hour 5pm. All fish taken on worm 4 off the bottom, and 1 on float. Excellent days fishing.
