Really tough day, lots of water pushing through still after the flood, struggled to hold bottom with 5oz leads. Decided to try a dead bait in a slack for the last couple of hours and managed snare a pike, lovely clean fish undoubtedly never caught before

Not a single knock all day...as dusk set in ,packed all gear away .Tossed my landing net up the greasy bank ,away with my landing mat and my equipment safely tucked away on top of bank.
Being the eternal optimist just my rod and bank stick left to pack away and BOOSH !!!! , a 3 foot twitch, panic ensues,Frank Spencer is back on the bank!
My biggest ever barbel finally landed !!! Im sure I'm a play toy of someone upstairs!!

A blank day, much too cold, no action at all.

Hard going but had a few fish on the maggot feeder long hooking
Biggest chub 5lb 8 couple barbel up to around 6lb.

Lovely beat in a special part of the world

No fishing. No fish. River completely burst it's banks and was flowing across the fields. Courtesy of Storm Bert.

Storm Bert! Fishing started late morning because Bert was dumping a mass of rain and blowing gusts of 45 plus mph. River was at 4.5 metres and rising. Unable to hold bottom with 6oz in most slacks. Fished to dusk. No fish.

Water temperature 5.5C. Water level increasing over the day to 1.7mtrs. Heavy rain all day. Heavy leaf debris catching line. No indications all day. Fish came around dusk.

Pike fishing for half a day top end of the stretch yielded just one 12lb pike

.51on the Byton gauge, 3 degrees on arrival with 3inches of lying snow. Wonderful days fishing on an idilic stretch of river

Water temperature at 5.5C. No indications all day, fish came at dusk.
