Low river no sign of running salmon, wet fly used nothing caught. River clarity was good.

Went for the evening rise. Perfect conditions, massive hatch, fish not interested.

Dry and wet fly. The day was bright and warm. There was no hatch on but we had to leave before the evening. Only a few fish were moving. The water was low and clear, so it wasn't easy. The beat has a variety runs and pools. Very pleasant.
Two brown trout of about a pound were caught and returned unharmed. Smaller fish were successfully returned.
Couldn't see the white gate but there was a wicket gate that led to the river. The easiest access is along the public footpath over the riverside field.
The Passport Scheme is a great service and makes available some wonderful fishing. Well done!

Water high and very coloured. Although it was over most of the walkway, the lower stretch was fully accessible. We saw no salmon, but two 1lb trout took the shrimp fly.
Nice location, have already booked a return trip.

Firstly, I would like to express my appreciation to the Wye and Usk Foundation. Today's fishing was the result of being given another day's fishing through the wash off policy so thank you!
That said, I had one of those comically disastrous days.
The first thing that happened was that I somehow snapped my single handed rod which I was going to use as this was left bank fishing and I'm not much of a left handed spey caster. So back to the 12 footer and I got to practice my left handed Spey cast along the platform. No luck with a Cascade but it does look very fishy.
So in the afternoon I decided I'd wade across to the other bank at a suitable spot and have a go with my right hand. I took with me landing net, 12 footer and trout rod, just in case!
The river thought otherwise and next time, I'll take a wading stick aswell! After a short swim, I also discovered that the pocket in my waders isn't waterproof and that my iphone isn't waterproof either.
After a thorough soaking, time to resort to alcohol and a note to myself to get better at left handed casting!

Maybe it was the ever so slightly chilly breeze, the dull occasionally damp day, the surprising lack of surface activity, the fact I could only fish morning and early afternoon on a beat I had never fished before, but I blanked. Of course it couldn't possibly be my fault, that I stubbornly fished dry fly only when nothing was rising and hatches were non existent. Not convinced I would have caught anything with other tactics anyway as this stretch did seem lifeless. But then I would say that, wouldn't I!

When I was grabbing ?unch from the car my rod was taken from the river bank. Don't leave anything unattended.

River higher than expected considering other section of the Usk I fished earlier. Weather foul! Heavy rain so forced to fish with nymph. Caught 2 trout max 12in. Rain finally stopped play.

High waters made fishing and wading a little difficult. Despite not catching anything we had a relaxing and good day. Thanks for the office for their advice when booking.

Fishable on the day, just. Water up over the path/track that runs alongside the river but access to some nice pools. Would fish here again despite nil return when the water is lower and clearer - great spot.
