An absolutely stunning spring day on this beautiful beat, started cold and misty but the sun soon came out and it was a glorious, cloudless and warm day from start to finish.
Had a mad ten minutes in Craig Llyn pool with a Wooly Bugger while it was cold and misty and hooked a big fish which came off! Then my friend and I walked the length of the beat, by the time we reached the downstream limit the mist had gone and we spotted a good shoal of chub in the slower water.
By mid morning a steady hatch started with a number of different insects came off throughout the day, I also found a huge stone fly sunning itself on a rock mid river, however we didn't see a single fish rise all morning along the whole beat.
I refused to resort to nymphing on such a day so was relieved to hear my friend had taken a very big grayling on a dry fly when I caught up with him.
After lunch we found one or two rising fish leaving only the smallest disturbance on the surface in the deeper pools, eventually I managed 3 o/o/s Grayling on dries which was really very enjoyable in such weather and in such beautiful surroundings.
A great day despite the lack of trout.

Great day, starting with watching two otters at close proximity playing in the river. Good hatch of March Browns but little response in a rise.

7 x grayling 12-16 inches, on a team of leaded wet flies fished at range. A very cold and foggy day in the valley, with the sun just peeping over the mountain about 2 in the afternoon for a short period. Air temperature 1-4 degrees. Water at mid-level and very clear now. Quite hard work, but the very occasional grayling was rising and the takes (many missed) were mostly in mid-water. Grayling Steel Blue on the top dropper got most of them.
