The river was rising and looked good. Unfortunately there was a lot of detached algae floating down stream, catching on the line and pulling my feeder around, could only keep a bait in the water 5 to 10 mins. Didn't seem to put the fish off though.
Only fished half the day as weed collection was getting frustrating.

The river was down a touch on yesterday and slightly clearer but still carrying a tinge. We knew big rain was coming by early afternoon so we were on the river by 10am. We fished from 10 to about 1.30pm. The weather alternated from light drizzle to dry but overcast. At lunchtime we saw hatches of olives of several different sizes and caddis. And the sand martins were furiously swooping, even when we could see nothing so presumably it was midges. But, given a moderate to good hatch, not a rise was seen. One fish of a pound and a bit was taken on a montana-type small streamer, another better fish turned but not hooked on something similar under the trees and another fish pricked on a PTN nymph on the edge of some faster water. I was glad to introduce Pete to the Usk this weekend and I think his appetite has been whetted, despite our relatively poor catch. Putting the rods away now til next spring, sadly.

Only fished a couple of hours, missed a few but managed one each, cracking fishery, there's fast rapids, turbulent pools, deep calm sections with undercut banks an over hanging trees. what more could you want.
