All fish caught on the ledger. One eel. Very sunny. River was low and clear. My friend had never been fishing before and now he definitely wants to come back!

Lovely venue to fish but didn’t get the barbel I went for. Switched from pellet to maggot mid afternoon and landed a few Chubb and bizarrely a pike around 6lb. No action at all from barbel so put it down to low river level and gorgeous weather.

Very warm sunny conditions and a low clear river meant all the action was early and late in the day with no fish to either rod between 9.00am and 4.00pm. Availability of swims is limited by the presence of anglers fishing from the far Bank in most of the better looking swims. Not quite the exclusive use we were hoping for. Vehicle access is good with parking behind pegs and a small car park at the entrance to the wood. The weather brought out a lot of canoeists - the most I've ever seen midweek in September - but this coincided with the dead period for bites so not really an issue.
small hooks and lighter rigs were needed with all fish falling to single 8mm pellet hook baits with spicy pellet fed through block end feeders.

Booking Office Note: To ensure exclusivity, we always advise booking a double-bank fishery. On single bank fisheries, there is always the chance someone could be fishing opposite.

IMPORTANT NOTE : Although anglers can drive along the bank at Thomas Wood and drop off their gear at the swims, vehicles MUST be parked in the designated parking spots.

Our first time at Thomas Wood . which at first glance was much as previous reports- although quite a lot of fishery not many swims; there are enough swims , if you include the wooded section, which is a fair walk to the upstream boundary.
Access is quite steep/rough and will be challenge for 2 wheel drive cars in the winter

Although conditions were again against us , with low water levels and sunny, we caught 2 barbel and 1 chub, along with a few dace.

The barbel were 5 -7 Lbs caught on luncheon meat.

This fishery will be on our list for 2020

Two short sessions fished 0700-1000 and 1600-1830. Access to stretch is very limited due to steep banks and heavy vegetation. Fished one of the lower cribs below dead tree. River low and clear. During morning session trotted meat and fed hemp and meat on inside crease and down track. 0 bites. Evening session fished next peg down. Fished groundbait feeder with plenty of 4 and 6 mms pellets. Single hair digger 8mm halibut pellet fished on size 14 hoping for any bites. 1 bite that was a barbel that I lost due to a flawed hook link. Really disappointed with the fishing. Beautiful surroundings. Wouldn't recommend to anyone who isn't sure footed with the bank access. Also worth mentioning it is single banked and anglers fishing opposite pegs.

Recorded a blank. I was fishing all out for barbel and I just didnt get on to any in the time available. A beat that reward some effort; walking, fishing a few swims and moving on.

Fished one of the cribs, could have been Thomas Wood crib. Looked an absolute peach of a swim but sadly did not produce to my methods and approach.

The available fishing spots were very limited for such a length of river. It was frustrating to walk past many yards of unfishable river.
