No joy rising a fish with dries again today. Although it warmed up slightly after lunch wasn't aware of anything coming off. Afternoon fishing fancier & heavier nymphs (than previous day) on the point picked up nice grayling up to 12/13 ins from around & just downstream from the pool where the Clettwr joins the river in Erwood and missed/lost a good few more.

Almost perfect conditions early morning but the river rose 4” and coloured up before I packed up at 3.00pm.
I guess that’s it for the 2024 salmon season. And good riddance too.

River pretty high 0.87 at Ross and coloured. Fished Vanstone, Corner Stone and Maddocks twice through with 2 weights of fly, no touches or sightings of a fish. I think this beat does not suit high water.

Tough day today, fishing was slow but we had a barbel each which made it worth while. We fished the good looking pegs in rotation but the fish didn’t seem to be feeding. The water was cold and the river coloured up while we was there. The barbel were a good size , one 9lb 11 and the other 7lb 15, both our wye PBs.

2 Barbel, 3 Chub
