Nice to see small brown trout rising, 3 takes but nothing in the net.

Very poor, one bite between four rods across the beat.

1 Barbel

Conditions were perfect , light wind , warm and overcast.
Tough day though, had a couple of fish during the day (and a random chub) .
I waited for the evening rise , but it didn’t happen .
Lovely beat, badly overgrown in the upper section of the beat , could do with hacking back a bit for access.

A decent evening rise from 9 to 10.15, with a size 18 emerger working a bit - though the fish seemed pretty educated!

Tough fishing on a hot and mostly cloudy day, river low and falling, Ross gauge around 30 to 33cm. We put in a long day 7am to 8pm amd I managed 2 smallish barbel, 4 to 5 pound and a 3 pound chub. My compatriots were not as fortunate with one blanking and the other picking up a 3 pound pike on the retrieve.

1 chub from one of the few bits of river accessible. Lovely area and conditions weren’t exactly in our favour with it being hot and sunny but the beat is in dire need of some maintenance to make it accessible for anglers.

A very short session in the evening when it cooled down a bit. 4 x chub on rolling meat. Nice to be back and no one to be seen.

Two modest size grayling for JD, fishing Euro nymph style. Hooked and lost a substantial trout, 24” or thereabouts , which was, shall we say, annoying.

Two trout of about a pound apiece for DD while fishing for salmon - more to get some casting practice for an upcoming trip to Norway than with much expectation of catching one.
