Water very low. Rain made the banks very treacherous. We fished to mid day with no action.

Difficult conditions rain and wind throughout the day. Fish caught across the day in different swims using standard feeder tactics and boilies. Banks were tricky to access in the wet so the ropes made it much easier to get down (and get back up!). Great day out and will be back.

It was our first fishing trip to the Wye and we had our fingers crossed for a first ever Barbel. After a very long dry spell we were hoping that the drop in pressure which accompanied the wind and rain might prompt the fish to feed. It didn't really turn out that way and bites proved hard to come by. A small chub after an hour gave us hope but nothing else was forthcoming from The Point swim. A move downstream to James's, which we had pre-baited, resulted in two further chub and to our delight a Barbel of about 5lb! We fished on for another few hours but all we managed were a small bleak on the float and a minnow which had managed to get its head stuck through one of the holes in the feeder!

It was an enjoyable day on a beautiful river even if it wasn't as prolific as we were hoping.
