Excellent days chub fishing from 6am-3pm 36 chub ranging from 2lb up to 5lb-10oz alternating float fishing meat and 8mm pellets and feeder fishing meat and pellet, the 6 other were eels which were a nuisance when ledgering meat.Unfortunately yet again no Barbel.

Great to be back on this stretch. Arrived about 8 and started with feeder and pellet. Fairly immediate wrap around, but missed it because was still settling in. A lesson. No expert, but I'd say this was a Barbel. Then 90 minutes of nothing. Joined by friends, and we moved pegs, with instant results. Chub, Chub and more Chub! Not knocking it, but the Barbel were laying low. One eel of about 2lb, wasn't even aware it was on! A little strange. River low, slightly coloured, gently flowing. Weather drizzly, then cloud and eventual sunshine. Really would've expected a Barbel or two. Trotted baits were luncheon meat and sweetcorn. Quite a bit of hemp fed in by hand and feeder.
Although track down has been filled with gravel, this is quite heavy duty stuff and hasn't compacted properly yet. Ignore the 4x4 guidance at your peril. You can't say you weren't warned.

Fishing conditions were good as was fishing

Fished close in but didn’t stop two events of Asian men out of control in canoes seemingly showing off or just bad canoeists taking out our lines and trying to pull rods in

Otherwise, good day

Barbel and one chub caught on 14 mm pellet ledgered, 3 chub caught on double 8mm pellet ledgered. Going was slow - fished from about 7 am until 13:30 Weather hot. Had to have 5 attempts to ascend the hill of doom. It needs compacting , it’s too loose for anyone without 4 wheel drive.
