Sunny warm conditions. A single brown trout around 10” caught on olive May palmer from the slow downstream section. Sadly, fishing was greatly restricted all afternoon and evening due to groups congregated from the public footpath on the rocky beach areas adjacent to the island and fast water.

Beat:Ross AC
Fishing:Salmon
No. of Anglers:1
I caught this rather stale 18 lbs fish this morning from Ross AC waters on a SHFC. The fish came from a difficult position on a steep bank hemmed in by trees and deep water, hence the need to remove it to the bank for unhooking. But it went back well after I gave it all the time it needed to recover.
Ross gauge 0.58m and steady with visibility of about 3ft.

The stile for access above bridge is completed rotten and damaged and makes access very very difficult of not impossible. A number of the stiles are rotten and in very bad condition. Water was a little low. A steady hatch of natural flies were allowed to float downstream without any fish bothering them. I saw 2 rises all day and caught on nymphs at depth. This beat needs the stiles repairing and some of the barbed wire removing from around the stiles. It’s a wader danger spot !!
