All caught on straight lead and halibut pellet, unfortunately no sign of the barbel. Proudest achievement was getting back up the track to the road! I have a standard estate car, slightly lower ground clearance than most. It is possible to go up and down the track if you plot your lines carefully. I wouldn't dream of doing it in the winter months if I wasn't in a 4 x 4

Decided not to fish with storms predicted and having a great two days fishing before, the barbel were needing a good 20min rest after catching to so rest up everyone.lovely picturesque venues though.

Early morning start was essential, and rewarded with a double figure Barbel on first cast. Closely followed by two Chub (6 and 4 lb). Pellet. As the sun came out, and temperatures rose, the action slowed considerably. Raps and taps occasionally through till 3pm, then things started up again. Day finished with 3 good Chub taken on trotted meat down towards Island end.
Family of otters (parent and two cubs) spotted early on. Magnificent. Did not seem to upset the fish.
Maybe the warm, sluggish water had an impact, but none of the fish, including the barbel, put up too much of a scrap. Lovely day. Thank you.

Worth noting track down to the river is not for all cars
- you will need a good ground to chassis clearance
Conditions were very bright and hot
Lots of canoes , paddle borders and some open water swimmers most were very accommodating to anglers
