Second time on this beat, the first time was back in the spring when I had a fantastic day's fishing. This time things were much more difficult with 30mph winds, thankfully the river here is quite sheltered by the high banks but even so at times there where waves going upstream! Luckily, apart from the wind, the weather was dry and fairly warm and the river looked spot on.
The first field has no access to the river, or none that I could find, the second field is better but does involve climbing down steep banks, however once in the river the wading is very easy, the only difficulty being when the water becomes too deep. From here on access improves but there are still sections of water which seem to be inaccessible.
This is a gorgeous bit of river with some great fish holding areas, the best of which seems to be the faster water with decent depth right at the top of the beat downstream of the bridge, it was here I took two very large trout on my first visit. Today though there was very little fly life, none of the 200 billion promised crane flies made an appearance, just a few very small flies which were bringing the odd trout up, one 10' in front of me which I tempted with a small dry tied by myself on the third attempt, an average fish of around 11" but very welcome on a difficult day.
Thank you WUF for another lovely day on this beat.

Nothing caught unfortunately, despite taking local advice. Very attractive river, but very difficult to fish. A lot of vegetation along the bank meant you couldn't get to most of the possible swims, even more tricky if you are fly casting. Banks so steep in the main, consequently impossible to wade in safely for most instances. A great shame. Wont be returning.

The water was extremely low, and coupled with a brisk wind and bright sunlight, made for a tough day. Only a few rising fish seen throughout the day, and these could not be tempted with dries. Late in the afternoon, around 18:00, I managed to bring 2 small trout to the net; both in fine condition and both released safely. Both were caught in faster (and very shallow) water toward the top of the beat, and both took a sz16 weighted PTN.

Lovely stretch of river but very overgrown and access very difficult in place and steep. Fished the top half of the river good evening rise but the fish were easily spooked as the water is still very low, managed to hook 1 fighting fit trout and missed a few on a grey duster.

Lovely afternoon spent in a lovely setting. River was not too low and relatively clear. Traffic issues meant arrived shortly before noon - not the ideal start given this was a hot sunny day. Some missed takes and a fish on and lost on an Iron Blue. Two trout to the net running a gold head PTN through faster shallower water.

Very tough going, we only managed two 4" trout in the evening. Lots of sizeable trout playing and jumping but despite a fairly decent hatch of sedges and a few olives nothing was feeding. The two trout were caught on an elk hair emerger and another lost on a nymph.

2 small brown trout taken on a PT nymph. Very little surface activity. Overcast conditions. This is a lovely beat with a lot of variety.

An absolutely stunning day in the Welsh hills, river slightly coloured and a few inches on the gauge at Brecon. Very mixed hatch throughout the day with trout looking up most of the time. As many fish missed as caught using tiny nymphs and drys. More than makes up for the blank in the early spring!

I caught eight brown trout at about five inches. I did not catch at all on the dry fly despite hatches coming off and rises by fish. I caught all fish on a team of three flies consisting a pheasant tail nymph on the point, a greenwell spider on the top dropper and a williams favourite on the middle dropper. A fish about twenty four inches carried my fly six yards and then spat it out, I am not sure what it was.
