1 Small Brown trout taken on a nymph, Very little surface activity. No fish taken. Nice location, great day out and friendly landowners at Ashford house. Found some of the deep wades to fish in the pools were challenging for relatively inexperienced fly fishers, thoroughly enjoyable though. On-line booking really easy and efficient, thanks.

Wonderful day in perfect conditions. Fish taking klinks and nymphs. A few mayfly about. All fish caught in the streamy sections.

Very cold day, with easterly wind. We picked off the odd fish, as we worked our way up the beat, mostly on dries, then, in the early afternoon at the top run, suddenly substantial numbers of flies appeared on the water, including: olives, sedges, yellow May duns, and a few mayfly. There were fish rising every where, but surprisingly 'picky'. I lost a huge trout which took in 4-6 ins of water. Fly was a sz. 18 March Brown. The fish shot across the river in a cloud of spray! These are the moments that linger in your memory! However we managed to catch 14 trout, one of which was 2.5 lbs, another of 2 lbs, and several of the others were around 1.25 lbs. Many fish lost, but most caught were on dries. Very absorbing fishing!

Weather warm, bright and sunny, the river still carrying just a hint of colour. I walked through the first field but failed to find a place to enter the river after that access improved, this whole beat looks like perfect dry fly flats of varying depth and flow, the wading is relatively easy.
No obvious hatch but I persevered with a dry fly and eventually a few small yellow up wings started to come off but by 2pm I'd managed to rise, miss and loose 10 fish but netted none of them!
A quick coffee break and back to the river. As I sat on the bank tying on a fly a fish rose just off the bank in inches of water right in front of me, I didn't even get up, just flicked my fly out and watched in shock as it was taken, I struck and found myself connected to a surprisingly large fish which when netted was at least 18 inches. No sooner had I released it another good fish rose just up from where I was now standing, I covered it and got an instant take from a very good fish which fought like a tiger resulting in a new PB at well over 2lb and much longer than my 18 inch net! The afternoon from then on was much more successful with 9 trout caught and returned. Thank you WUF for another great day fishing in beautiful surroundings.

A good day on this very nice beat. The water was slightly colored and dropping throughout the day. Three fish caught all around the pound to pound and a half size. All taken on a pale watery dry fly. Look forward to returning.

After heavy rain the day before, river up and coloured after 3ft. spate. Concentrated on the runs higher up the beat. Rises were few and far between, however, we caught 3 fish on nymph and dry, one of which took a parachute Adams and weighed in at 2 lbs. Enjoyable day, if challenging!

Excellent beat with good wading and trout rising to abundant fly hatches. Should have had many more fish but the group of anglers was inexperienced. The fish were returned and neither caught or lost anything over half a pound.

Short visit, rain, wind did not dampen a few concentrated rises of lovely cheerful small trout. Ashford as enchanting as ever.

The river was low and clear, but the weather was favourable with a temperature of 16 degrees, overcast for much of the day, and only a light breeze. There were sporadic hatches throughout the day, with the fish responding to each new hatch. Notably the fish would not take any surface fly, natural or imitation, but fed mainly just below the surface with slow almost silent takes distinguished by an appearance of a tail or fin. Consequently most of the fish were taken on small sparsely dressed spider patterns fished a few inches below the surface. The best fish of the day was 1.75lb.

A couple of hours recce to check ease of access (limited mobility) but while river is only 5 min from car park, the first field is mostly unfishable, 'though there are a couple of bays under the trees, with some big trout lurking under the trailing willow branches. Sadly wasn't able to cope with walking beyond the first fence, and as there is no access at Talybont road bridge, 90% 0f the beat was just not available.
