5x Grayling 10-16ins & 1x oos wbt long trotting red maggot.

I Thought today would be a more productive day after the settled weather and with some sunny spells but it was hard going. Only one 10” grayling taken on a tungsten beaded cased caddis. Fished the euro nymph all day.

Cold day. My banker pools produced and one old friend has been through another season! 4th time caught in 4 visits. Good to see a number of smaller grayling about.

Just one grayling, but it was the biggest I've ever caught, so I was happy. Size 16 red tag nymph. Two out-of-season trout, one rising to duns in the afternoon.

Nothing at all today

Enjoyable few hours on the river. Fished long line nymphing and took all fish on different nymphs; a double 2.5mm tungsten beaded pink shrimp, cased caddis and a soft hackled hare's ear grub. Interestingly the pink shrimp hooked one of the trout right on the bottom and the grayling was hooked on the hares ear grub about 18" off the bottom. Hooked and lost 2 more grayling, a Salmon Parr hooked itself whilst i was letting my line dangle when choosing a change of fly. All in all not a bad session. Started fishing at around 11:15 and finished at 15:00 when the water had risen a bit too high and coloured up. Met another pleasant and helpful angler using the beat.

A day of trotting on what started as a showery day but ended with heavy persistent rain by 3pm. Water very clear and at a good level. Searched and searched through a good part of the beat. Three good grayling, the best 14", all in different places.

Czech nymph for the second day level at 0700 fish taken in the usual runs fished slow on both days probably down to the amount of rain in recent weeks

Trotting for the first of the two days water level at just below 1m both of us took fish
