Beautiful day but the waters still a bit cold. I saw no rises all day and only two upwings. I couldn't tempt a fish with a heavy nymph or a dry fly.

River slightly coloured and was rising slightly during the day. Lots of olives on the water most of the day, did not see any fish rise for them. I did not catch anything tried all sorts of nymph methods, it was my first time on this river. I would like to come back later in the year.
First class service from W & U foundation, first time I have used them.

I'm sure there are fish in the river. Well, I'm fairly sure. Perhaps it was just me. Beautiful beat, lovely day, not a fish to be seen, heard, or felt on the end of a line. Just one of those days I suppose. Lovely place though.

A lovely day spent on the Irfon. The water level wasn't particularly high and water was clear, which was surprising considering the amount of rain we have had recently. Caught 1 ten inch grayling on a size 14 pheasant tail nymph. We will definitely return when it gets a little warmer.

The gauge was at 0.5m and the river in superb condition. Tough going as is probably normally the case for back end grayling, as I was told by a friendly fellow angler. Tried a very large number of spots (many looked ideal but did not produce), exhausted by the end of the day and therefore (unusually for me!) packed up an hour before dusk. 2 nice 14" grayling on trotted maggot using a delicate stick float for the clear conditions. One lost. The fish were found in medium paced deeper pools and areas that produced in higher water were devoid of fish. Unusually I had no small grayling at all - my bankside acquaintance was worried that the floods had damaged these stocks, but I did land quite a few smaller fish during my last trip in January. Delightful end to the grayling season.

Good to be back on the river after a long wet spell. Cold day that produced 3 lovely hard fighting grayling all around the 18" mark. Had to work hard and covered a lot of water to locate them. A few dark olives around lunch time trickled off, but nothing interested in them on the surface. All fish caught on heavy nymphs fished around a depth of 4 foot.

Perfect conditions for trotting. Should have been good - but wasn't.

9 x grayling 14-17 inches, 1 x out of season trout 10 inches, trotting and Tenkara. I had to roam around a fair bit. Rain fell to the south and a good dose of snow on the Black Mountains, but Builth Wells area stayed dry and the Irfon continued to fall. Level today at 0.69 and dropping slowly, cold and clear. It should fish well for a bit while it stays dry.
