A beautiful beat but the fish were very elusive! Despite trying a variety of techniques only 1 fish came to the net with only 2 more 'pricked'. River was clear (as was the sky for most of the day) with a good flow. We didn't stay late so perhaps we missed the best time. Wading in the rocky gullies was trickey and a wading stick was essential. Will return sometime as there must be more fish in this lovely river.

Absolutely beautiful beat, however river is so low I walked virtually the whole length on dry bedrock. Found a pool with enough water and sure enough caught two small trout. I did have a large salmon (3ft) attempt to take a fly as I was reeling in, which startled me so much I nearly fell in!!! great day out in this beautiful part of the countryside.

River running clear. Cold wind but sunny in the morning, clouding over with drizzle in the afternoon. Good hatches of March Brown in particular, but no surface activity by fish. Two big grayling (20 inches) were unhooked in water and swam off. One on a goldhead hare's ear under an indicator, the other on a wet march brown pattern fished on a dropper above a weighted fly. Of trout there was not a sign.

Fly fishing, 2 hours at mud pool and 1 hour at the next 2 beats upriver. Sinking and sub-surface fly/nymph patterns around smaller boulders and under branches where possible. No fish taken.

We didn't catch anything however we were couple of very beginner anglers. It was windy and didn't have waders, so we could only fly fish a small section of Llanfechan. We saw a few 12 to 16 inch trout and grayling through the clear waters. Very scenic part of the world and would totally recommend trying your luck here.

River clear but high. Weather - a perfect autumn day, mist rising and then sunshine. Saw no fish moving and caught none - but it mattered not. This is a beautiful stretch of water.

Quite a tough day really with a strong downstream wind which resulted in the expected heavy leaf fall. Level still a little high but the clarity were fine and it was pretty nippy.
Concentrated away from the bedrock/gutter areas as the wading was challenging but did find some grayling in the gravelled areas. There was a flurry of LDO's around lunch time which brought some fish up including one or two healthy specimens. Total for the day 7 Grayling and one WBT. Sad to say there were Goosanders on the beat which we chased off but I caught one grayling with a fresh wound across the back. Goodness knows what they had eaten already.
Nice to see that the beat is available once again. The owner of Llanfechan house is asking anglers to put details of their catches in a diary that they keep.

1 brown trout on lure at Glaslyn pool. Another seen rising at mudpool but wouldn't come to fly. Lovely peaceful scenic stretch of river and as two very inexperienced fly fishers we had a great day. Needed the waders.
