A freezing cold day with ice on the already slippery rocks, so I was rather cautious and failed to find any grayling.

Nothing except 1 small grayling about 8 ounces caught on pink nymph above grhe lovely day though

1 Grayling

Fairly cold start to the day, but a lack of wind kept the leaves from blowing into the water. Tough going, although I managed to bag a small grayling on a red klinkhammer during a small spell of sunshine. I also saw a large salmon jump below the fall at Glaswyn, a real beast of a fish. Later in the day another small graying was caught and finally to top off the day a small out of season brownie was landed, both on a gold headed bibio nymph. All flies today were red and black. Great stretch of river to enjoy the colours of autumn.

Just a couple of hours fishing in the morning. Caught one grayling on a weighted PTN.

Water falling after recent rain. 0.8 on the gauge was a good height for the river. It is a lovely secluded spot with plenty of streamy runs and pots to fish but the wading can be tricky in places. We caught our fish in the morning on Sawyer Killer Bugs and they were all returned. It went quiet in the afternoon as the temperature dropped but it was good to see several salmon show in the pools during the course of the day. There is plenty of water to occupy two rods for a day in this idyllic spot but it is hard to do it justice during the course of a single visit.

Despite not catching after the river was high, this was still a wonderful day and a chance to experience another beautiful beat. Varied and interesting, I cant wait to get back when the water levels are slightly lower.

Lovely day on the river, very low allowing access to the gutters and pots. Trickle of small olives and odd stonefly fluttering. Best trout 1lb and 3 grayling of similar size late in the afternoon on small olive CDC dries. Really picturesque beat the Wye valley in all its autumn glory.

Hard work today. Just one take on the nymph (and shaken off) and no rising fish (other than tiny graylets). I don'r recall seeing such low water levels in June

What’s difference a day makes! Not a single trout compared to yesterday, water levels receding and slightly easier to get out into the river
