Beautiful stretch of river. Fished for about 4 hours. Only saw one fish and didn't catch any.

Evening session in the hope that the mayfly would be on the menu for the trout. However, despite plenty of fly life, minimal surface activity. Preserved with a dry and enjoyed the cooling water after such heat earlier.

Nil return! We laboured under a bright and exceptionally hot sun, and then had to leave before what looked to be a promising evening rise. A fabulous beat, but with very challenging access - not one for those with limited mobility!

Sweltering day, as expected very tough. Plenty of bugs hatching - mayflies, brook duns, olive uprights, blue winged olives etc. Fish rising intermittently through the day mostly to the smaller olives, and then only consistently from 9pm onwards. Tempted one rise during the day but it was a brute, a new pb of 22 inches. Couple more during the evening rise, one of which was 18 inches.

Incredibly hot day and we stopped at 3.30. Managed two trout on small dries. There was the odd Mayfly but we didn’t try them as we didn’t see any being taken. We liked the beat. Would fish again and hopefully next time a herd of bullocks won’t come and lick the car!

Lots of big trout jumping and rising but no takes.
