A lovely day fishing on this particularly spectacular beat, but nothing seen or caught. Water may have been too warm at 62 degs. Not hot enough to stop the may fly from hatching which they periodically did in amazing numbers.

River condition seemed to be good and the beat is well maintained but no salmon were seen nor were there any tugs on various flies presented at various depths but I will probably try this beat again.

Nothing doing. Plenty of recreational traffic in the forest park (including a major campsite opposite), but none of the fishy kind in the river. The fly water around the footbridge looked decent, if brown-tinted. I guess this is not particularly holding water - you have to be lucky to come across a run of fish. Fell in just as the canoes started, about 12.

River was a nice height 1' 2" but rose a little initially and was carrying quite a bit of colour. Not ideal for the fly but pressed on regardless. Water started to drop. Had a sea trout in Bibblins Run and another in Chestnut stream, plus pulled out of a third when lifting off the dangle. Reckon I could have had some more but by this time it was 9pm and time to head back to London.

No salmon caught and no fish seen running, a little coloured and probably a bit to high, should be good for the weekend. I did catch a Shad accidentally, a first for me it took a 1.5" Cascade.

One salmon caught in Biblin's run at 3.15 pm. It took a 2 inch copper tube fished on fast sink tip and measured 28 inches. Nothing else seen all day.

I put in a report of my days fishing on Seven Sisters but it was not very informative so I thought I'd better give a few more details. The salmon took a 2 inch copper Willie Gunn fished on 10 ft fast sink tip. It was caught on the Biblins Run on the right bank about 10 yds down from the shingle beach water. Conditions were good, the water height at Monmouth was 1.38 but the river did rise a few inches through the day.

Blank. A quiet afternoon during which I didn't see any salmon move. The showers don't seem to have affected the lower Wye yet, although the upper river and the Usk have coloured and risen a bit. On Martin's Pool there was a considerable hatch of yellow May Duns, first I have seen this year, and the chub were lined up under the surface to enjoy them.
