What a brilliant low water beat. From Slaughter crib to Biblins run is a sequence of dreamy fly water with lies a plenty. When you finish one pool, another appears before you. Both fish took a size 8 Bann shrimp, the first a hen of around 8lb from the tail of the channel in Botchers rock, the second was my smallest Wye salmon. A little cock grilse of around 3lb that was lying were the Biblins run splays out across the channel. There were trout on the lip of every pool keen to eat the salmon fly and a couple were well over the pound.
Went down and gave the steady water in the middle a cast after. Plenty showing in this section but no takes. The 2 coarse fisherman were both fishing the sliding ground and both very polite and nice.
Did not see a single canoe. All walkers were nice and both salmon had an audience.

Water was slightly coloured and quite low. Saw plenty of salmon jumping just above the Island at the Martin's Bar area but couldn't tempt any onto a hook. Very heavy canoe traffic thoughout the day, especially around lunch time. Plenty of shad in the river.

Nil return. Water was slightly coloured but fishable with a bright fly. Very heavy rain from mid morning.
Biggest disappointment was not knowing enough about the parts of the beat that were possible to fish at this time. We had tried calling the fishery manager several times and established when we booked into the Royal Lodge hotel that he was tied up assisting some filming with Dean Macey. On the day we spent nearly 2 hours looking up and down the beat to determine where we could fish and more appropriately where we could get into the water. On the left bank many of the pool areas had very steep banks and were bordering on dangerous to try and get down to the water. We did manage to speak to the fishery manager about lunch time and were advised to fish the pools we had settled on but from the right bank. We found these and had a few hours of enjoyable fishing. However during that time each of us slipped over multiple times getting down to the river. Some strategically placed ropes to assist would have helped greatly. We were told that we could wade out to the island at martins pool but as the water was somewhat cloudy and we had no idea on depth again ropes would have given us both the appropriate location to wade and an aide to avoid any accidents.

River conditions were low, no fish caught.
I feel access to the lower sections on this beat are poor and is more suited to spinning, this should be highlighted to give better beat information.
