Stunning day on the upper Wye on a great beat. Water with a touch of colour and at about 11 degrees. sedge and some up-wings about.
No fish of notable size landed, two better fish slipped the hook. All on nymphs. No rising fish but I couldn't stay late and expect there would have been fish on the fin taking dry sedge patterns later on.

Beat:Lower Canon Bridge
Fishing:Coarse

We had a good day on Lower Canon Bridge beat. The location is idyllic and the weather was sunny, the river had just come down after the first push of autumn. I think the recent first cold nights put the barbel off a bit, though the chub were still feeding in the faster water at the top of the beat. The two barbel came from lower down. All fish came to meat on the bomb.

River running high (1.27m at Builth on River levels website) with a tinge of.colour and very cold. Not a single rise seen all day and equally hard going even on euro nymphs. The ever present Copper John took 2 fish with a dark olive perdigon taking rhe other.
