What a relief to be able to go fishing again, I had never visitied this beat before, so it was a new experience.
The river was fairly low and a little cloudy, algae was evident on the bed, especially when wading and becoming surrounded by floating algae dislodged from the gravel.
Fly life was sparse, with only a handfull olives hatching all day, rises were also sporadic and there wasn't a single fish feeding conistently.
However I did manage to catch a couple of trout, one on a Parachute Adams, and another on a tungsten bead GRHE nymph.
They weren't large circa 8 inches, but were most welcome.
It was just really good to be out with a rod in my hand exploring a new place to me.
The beat was fairly tight fishing along most of it's length, perhaps a recommendation on rod length/weight should be included in the beat details.
Anyway an excellent escape from all the madness all the same.
Thank you again Wye and Usk foundation.

River running fairly high but some clarity. One grayling caught and another lost between 2 rods. A very fine place to spend a day fishing.

3 hours fishing around noon. Plenty of sunshine, temperatures was over 20 degrees in mid September! Tricky cast was required due to the over grown branch of tree and heavy bush on both side bank. River bed and stone were covered by weed, this was another cause of trouble...I caught 3 Grayling under the trees.

11 x grayling 8-13 inches, 3 x trout 6-12 inches, nymphs with French leader. Nothing much to do with the dry fly rod this afternoon - virtually no rises.

Grabbed a few hours this evening and the river higher than a few days ago. Such a beautiful beat. 3 decent size Grayling caught on a ptn, larger one (of course) lost to a dodgey knot.

Stayed upstream - house very busy. Lovely balmy evening, river pretty low and banks very overgrown in places. Found the fish eventually on a ptn
