After reading previous reports we arrived thinking that it would be a real struggle to tempt anything. River very low but instantly found fish in every pool we tried! Grayling ever willing to take a nymph fished through the fast deeper pools with the best touching 2lb and plenty in the 8-12" range. More trout above the bridge again with the best touching 2lb. We were hoping that the evening would bring some dry fly activity but saw very few rises and everything coming to nymphs. Great day in great surroundings

Well, despite it being a beautiful day at Lypole, the fishing was non-existent. Stunning scenery, deep pockets of cold oxygenated water and some inviting shaded spots made the river look enticing at first sight, but what followed was absolutely no sign of trout (or any other fish) at all. We spent all day there, fishing from 11am - 7pm, and only saw one small rise at around 6:30pm near the bridge. I ran with a range of drys and nymphs all day, but not that it matters if there’s just no fish activity at all.
Still, a lovely lunch and a bit of a paddle in the river somewhat saved the day, but my honest advice is do NOT spend £25 to go fishing here at the moment.

It could be put down to to the heat/brightness of the day but in comparison to a day on the Arrow yesterday (same conditions) this was chalk and cheese. Despite plenty of shade, cool water, well oxygenated there was not a single sighting of ANY fish apart from a few minnows. No other aquatic life was in evidence. A beautiful beat in terrific surroundings but seemingly devoid of any trout (or other fish). Did witness either a small otter or large mink crossing the river a few hundred yards upstream of if Lyepole bridge....

Very hot day, nothing rising after 12. Missed lots of grayling, they are too quick for me, the fish I caught were only small on dry (probably the wrong choice) but I am a novice. Saw a massive signal crayfish but a pleasure to spend the day there.

Beautiful day on a lovely stretch of water. The banks getting a little overgrown. Lots of Himalayan Balsam. None of the fish were large but gave a good fight. All caught on nymphs. Lot of fly life including a variety of damsel flies. Good access with stiles over the barbed wire where needed. Although mostly shallow some of the pools are very deep. Too deep for me to wade through.

Saw a red kite, hooray. Saw a mink, boo. Saw a heron, hooray. Saw a signal crayfish, boo. Saw some deer, hooray. Fish-wise it was absolutely dire, just one small grayling to hand, 5-10 hooked but came off. River seemed far more devoid of fish than usual. Flow was up and coloured, combine with glaring sunshine and very blustery conditions...not easy. Nice walkabout all in all.

Despite warm and humid conditions at Lyepole there was not much fly life and little evidence of rising fish, at least between 1 and 4pm when I was there. Several plucks on a weighted nymph but nothing to hand for me today.

River at a good height (12") on gauge with very little colour. Fished from 09:30 to 14:00 and there was a constant stream of Mayflys hatching but no fish rising to them. I only saw a couple of rises today but neither was to a mayfly. Fished upstream nymph. Trout were in the 8-10" range, two grayling were 8" and one very strong 12".

Quite a windy day. Less surface feeding fish today than on my visit two weeks ago. Some mayfly still about.

The river was a little higher and carrying more colour than I was expecting. I'm not sure how much difference this made, but there were only sporadic rises during the day. There were a few mayfly coming off but they didn't seem to be in sufficient numbers to get the fish really interested. I caught nothing all morning. Things picked up a little in the second half of the day and I finished with four out of season grayling and three trout, the best around 12 ounces. Two of the fish were feeding in a back-eddy on the far side of a bend: the fly does not drift naturally for long in those circumstances so it needed some accurate casting which helped me to feel I hadn't had too bad a day after all!
