Cooler windy day but some mayfly hatching made for a good afternoon. All fish really well conditioned and good Ave size for a little river. 1 to nymph when it was quiet the rest large dries cast to rising fish. All fish returned.

River water levels reducing and water slightly muddy. Sunny warm day 18 c mild gusty breeze. Healthy hatches of many river insect species. Some branch clearance has made fishing easier - thank you - but stock fencing made access tricky over barbed wire. Dry flies used - mayfly imitation patterns. 4 healthy trout caught and returned
One six inch trout
Two 7inch
One 8 inch
Also a freshly dead 9 inch trout was found in the river with what seemed likely to be otter bite wounds on it. Too wide for a mink. Lovely river and surroundings

I only covered the top half of the beat over a couple of hours midday. Water levels quite high and strong flow. No rises or action but a nice beat and I would return.

Had a few hours free to check out this beat in a setting unfamiliar to me, very overgrown and only accessible by walking along the stream bed itself. Knew the water would be low after the hot weather, but didn't expect it to be that low! Had a nice walk along the beat length and saw a few small fish but nothing worth pursuing. Nice secluded spot, I imagine a good spot at other times of the year.

Very low water levels made this incredibly tricky. Only some parts of the beat were fish able. X2 trout sighted and lost.

This is a lovely stretch of the Arrow and the first time I've fished it. I've fished the wild stream beats below and above many times so was keen to compare them to this beat. Access to the river is straightforward from the layby and the walk to the start of the beat is easy through the field and over Murder Bridge at Hergest Mill then through the next field down to the start. Not much activity until around 100:00ish when there was a steady mayfly hatch through the rest of the day with some decent rises. I took 6 fish either to a Grey Wulff or emerger pattern - so a good day. There are a few new fences across the river which are difficult to get through.

I fished the beat from start to finish in five hours with a break for lunch half way. The river was low and overnight rain was giving it a slight, helpful colour as the morning went on. Four fish to hand, mainly to a small GRHE but the best and last rose to a Klinkhammer in the pool just before the last cross river cattle gates. Much as I enjoy Hergest Court it is more difficult to navigate these days. Access is rather restricted by the new barbed wire fencing whilst the cattle gates and several large fallen trees make it something of an obstacle course. I guess I’m just getting old!

Low, clear water, chilly NE breeze, tricky conditions all round. Persevered for 5 fish between us, 4 on the nymph of a duo, one on the dry. Best about 12", others in the 6-8" range.
