River conditions absolutely perfect today and the weather was just as good but sadly no barbel again, they seem to have deserted this stretch..
Had 20+ chub. They keep you occupied but not what I was fishing for.
Used every bait you could think of over a bed of groundbait. The chub took anything and everything. Meat, corn, cheese, pellet, boilie, bread,.... The barbel are non existent. Lovely beat though. Thanks again.

Arrived around midday and selected one of the last pegs that was fishable.

River was low and approx 4ft deep in the middle. Second chuck and the rod wrapped around for a 7lb barbel, an hour later another was in the landing net at 5lb. Both taken on garlic pellet over ground bait feeder.

A few chub taken over the course of the afternoon and then we both lost barbel towards the end of the session.

First time on the Wye and I must say I was quite disappointed with this beat despite it being 2/3rds of a mile in length. There are literally three swims you can fish from and two of those would be treacherous in wet weather. Not for the feint hearted or angler with mobility issues.

We stayed at The Annexe (Stay by the Wye) in Hole in the Wall which I can highly recommend.

Hot and busy with kayaks as expected. Plenty of chub showing near surface layers. I was ledgering. Perhaps a float or surface approach may have brought a few more chub.
