At last some barbel!
First one of 3 1/2lbs caught first cast on first peg opposite the island. We thought we were in for a bumper day but nothing more for 4 hrs. I moved to the fast water swim above the island and had a chub of 2lbs followed by a good barbel of about 5lbs. Then moved to slower water swims and had 2 more decent chub including one of 5lbs. All caught on luncheon meat.

Very bright day but good flow and some colour in the water, one good chub early in the session and one barbel late, others were roach and chublets.
The beat is very scenic but there are a real lack of fishable swims, especially in the upper section. Banks pretty treacherous to access anywhere.

Fish caught on pellets.

Chub were around but a lot more cagey. Nice to get a few before the rain came in .

All caught on pva bagged pellets over dumbbell hook bait . Lot of smaller chub rattling the rod tip all the time . Lovely day.

Last minute evening session which worked well as it was a very hot sunny day. All fish on pellet.

Lots of chub up to 5lb, no barbel, still great fun with the chub

River in good condition. No barbel but lost a couple of good fish in a sunken tree downstream section of the island that may have been barbel
