The barbel did not oblige, but the chub again gave some good action, along with some dace-a satisfactory day considering the conditions.

The water in the river was very low. We did manage a few fish but it was later into the early evening that they seemed to prefer to feed.

Conditions not ideal, river low/bright sunshine. A light shower resulted in some late afternoon/early evening action, with 1 barbel and several large chub in the total of 25.

River low and slow. Had to search for fish and found them near a far bank snag. Hard going but at least it was a nice sunny day

The last session of our six day visit to the Wye was a replay of previous days with fish reluctant to respond until late evening. Very low water levels meant we were somewhat precariously perched a fair way above the water as established swims were few and far between. Flocks of Canada geese noisily entertained us for the afternoon, all eventually taking flight as they went out to supper in the fields.

A slow day with only 2 bites between 7.45am and 6.30pm. 1 Chub and 1 Barbel came in the last 30 minutes before dusk. Both good fish c. 5-6lb

The river is very low and locating fish was a challenge. I fished swims along most if the beat without success. Thank you to the 2 other anglers who suggested that I try their swim when they packed up at 6.30. This was a good move!

A beautiful stretch of river. I saw countless kingfishers, green woodpeckers and a barn owl to name a few. I'll definitely return later in the season.

We only fished after lunch and had to wait until late evening for a little flurry of barbel. The fish were not inclined to feed until the sun started to set.
