Actual number of trout caught was about 24, almost all were returned and were too small to keep. Two were kept for the frying pan one about a pound and one about ten ounces. All caught on light tackle using worm. Weather was overcast about 18 Celsius. It had rained locally two days earlier leaving a good flow with slightly coloured water.

Fished on the Cothi and Amman river. Water was shallow and really clear, not a very good day. Using a spinner caught one small brown trout. 6" in length under half a pound. Bring on the rain.

Fished Amman lowest section for 2 hours - water fast and coloured - access and wading difficult - barbless dry fly only - a few very small brown trout all returned safely.
Cothi- lowest part of Crugybar, Ffroodvale and Gwargorof beat for 3 hours - water clear and low - barbless dry fly only - a very few small brown trout all returned safely.
This stretch unfortunately straightened by an ill-conceived intervention creating one long shallow riffle with very little holding water. the bypassed stretch of river full of fish now trapped in stagnating pools. Very, very surprised that NRW would still allow/condone such an intervention, which has destroyed habitat and will increase flood risk downstream. Perhaps this was carried out without permission?
Cothi, Cwrt y Cadno - lowest section of beat for 3 hours. Barbless dry fly only. Lovely stream in very good health and benefiting from benign neglect. Clear water and reasonable flow, barbless dry fly only - 20 plus small brown trout all returned safely. There are some much bigger fish here with lies in very good cover.

Spinning and wet fly. No fish seen or bites.

Sept 30th : Caught one small wbt on the Cothi Crugybar beat in the daytime. Very bright, sunny day, not ideal. Night time went to Towy Llanwrda for sea trout - clear and moonlit, very little sign of fish movement, nothing caught.
Oct 1st: Pipe Pool in evening for sea trout and caught nothing. Chap on the other side was clearly fishing for brown trout - interesting on first day of close season!
Tried for sea trout on Towy Wenallt at night - clear, moonlit night with very high tide, nothing caught.

Few salmon or sea trout in the river - saw one in the Pipe Pool. One of us had something substantial on but lost it. Caught a few trout, mostly small.

Beat 5 River Cothi. A lovely stretch of water but very low and clear.
