Looked perfect, overcast and a good level. After this year's floods the fish were not in their usual haunts.
1 chub landed, 1 lost and a first for me ever here ~no barbel.
Had a fabulous chat with a trout angler returning to the place for the first time in fifty years where it a started for him.

Got set up on the river bank mid morning & within half an hour the river started to rise at a fairly rapid rate meaning that one had to move rod, rod rest, seat & tackle box a couple of feet further up the bank every 20 minutes. It was interesting to see the response of the salmon to a sudden rise in water...it really' tickled their fancy' and they were leaping everywhere for a short while. Sport waned later on as the river became a torrent with logs, branches & other debris coming downriver not to mention three very wet fishermen; When you can't even light a fag it's time to call it. Which is what we did.
Might book a salmon rod next time!
Thanks all for the opportunity to get out.

Started of with low clear conditions. Fished beats 3-5 in rotation. 11am river risen 2ft and pace increased. Unable to fish the known holding spots. Headed for creases and slacks. Work hard for 6 hours and caught only chublets. Lovely bit of river. Wrong washed out conditions for the nature of the stretch. Didn’t fish the second day as river was still to high :-(

Not much activity, gusty wind. A dace each saved the blank.
