I think I expected it to be a tough day today and I wasn't disappointed. Fishing on a Saturday and a holiday weekend meant one thing canoes, lots of canoes.. Luckily I got there early so had all morning canoe free but we had a large hatch between 1.30 and 3 making fishing pretty useless, mind you a needed a rest by then anyway. As for the fishing, water is low now, need a good flush through. I had a good tug and a swirl at the bottom of beat 3 first thing. There was a fish showing on beat 6, possibly a resident. I threw everything at to no avail. There are fish there, not many but they are there., catching them is another thing.... Ah well, I'm there again next week.... so even less water and more canoes no doubt….

Fished and walked full beat and honestly say, we felt it was devoid of fish, weather & air temperature were perfect, the water slightly on the low side . Overriding feeling was no fish present. Not value for money!

River was high after recent rain. No sign of salmon apart from a coloured fish in a pool below the ‘hut’ on beat 3. Nevertheless a pleasant day on the river.

Stunning day. River looked perfect. Sadly no salmon seen. Nice as ever to spend the day at Whitney casting for them though.

Great day to be out in good water conditions. Nice to see fish on beats 1 and 5 no takers to fly or lure. Slight change of scene I'm writing this from my hospital bed recovering from bowel cancer surgery. Hopefully I'll be back on the bank for some more Wye therapy before summer comes!

Morning weather was as forecast, showers and moderate wind. However the wind got up during the day and was howling upstream after lunch rendering beat 4 and 5 unfishable with fly or spinner. Beat 3 seemed to be sheltered and was fishable all day with the fly. Had a couple of trout on briefly and had various pulls and plucks. No fish seen. River low. One day I'll get it right.....
