One rod fished and it was a day of 2 halfs. A morning without even a notable bite to strike at at the lucky stones, very odd and can only put down to the drop in temperature overnight to 7 degrees.

Moved to the field and had a cracking afternoon chubfest. Temperature had risen to 20 degrees by then and they were climbing up the road.

Come on W&U this section is repeatedly reported for lack of swims.
Over the last 6 years no work has been carried out and a mile of bank is down to 2 swims difficult in the wet and a cattle drink

River levels low, temp 8C first early on, rising to 20C later as the sun came out. Light southerly winds. Occasional fish rises am but little activity pm. A few BWO's flying about.
Hooked a decent fish early on using a CDC olive and lost it as the fish went around a rock and burrowed underneath it. Later pm, rose a fish along the glides using a BWO but missed it. Despite the frustration, a great day out on the river with a little extra entertainment provided by a Kingfisher.

Six swims fished by 2 anglers, very hard going , one rod had 4 Chub and the other 1 barbel.

One of those days! Just could not tempt them for whatever reason!

2 Barbel, 3 Chub

Started catching small trout on a downstream nymph as the light faded. Finished up with one nice one of about 1½lbs.

A wonderful place to spend the day fishing. Kingfishers, dippers , wagtails, herons, (and sadly) cormorants all seen. A fox wandered by on the path. Mushrooms were everywhere. A bedrock dominated venue. Luckily the 2 pools either side of the broken stile have a gravel substrate so for the sake of my back I concentrated on these. A trout and a grayling to spiders and a surprise dace to a small sedge. Missed two other takes but not much hatching or rising. Water level below 0.4 on Abernant scale. A venue for lower water conditions I would suggest.

Another great day on this stretch, but we had to move a number of time to find the Chub

1 Barbel, 58 Chub

Water level very low, but you can see where the shallows and the deep water are - we concentrated on the deeper water because we couldn’t see any fish activity in the shallows. Barbel came before 12:00 and after 5:00 pm . Great day.
