River had a hint of colour, but not the flood expected after the forecasted inch of rain for the previous night. Rises were spasmodic, firstly to Black Gnats, then to Olives then back to Black Gnat again. Not an easy day but fooled a couple.

Fine warm day. A few march browns or dark olives about but only a few rising trout. Fished 9.30am-7pm.

Thank you for your e-mail and my lovely day on this great stretch of water. The fishing was tough as the water is so low and it was very bright all day. However, having the beat to myself meant I could concentrate on streamy shady water where there were plenty of trout in residence and managed 13 fish with 3 around a pound.
Most fish took a partridge and orange. All were returned. Many thanks.

Great to see the March Brown this year, even though the hatch was a little sparse today. Lovely warm sunny spring day which unfortunately encouraged dog swimming and picnicing around the bridges. We did manage a few trout which pleasingly were caught mainly on the dries.
