Unplanned fishing due to such a good day previously. Only fished from 7-11am as was meant to be traveling back to Scotland early doors. Stonker of a fight first thing in the morning with a 1.5lb trout that thought she was a 10lber in the top pool around 830/9am, had hooked up a double brownie in the same spot the day previously but this was a whole new fish. Can't wait to come back and explore more of the beat only covered a small section over the two visits, so much good water to explore.

cold weather, the river was at a perfect level and quite clear but not crystal , olives were about but no rises and the nymphs were not working either , the high water in the winter and the bank work has made the casting much better ,as i live quite close will be back for more sessions during the year .

Except for 15 minute hatch when only some small fish made splashy rises in the faster water, no action all day.

Fished 11am to 2pm. More prolonged hatches of LDOs and March browns than my last Usk visit 2 weeks ago brought fish to the surface. 4 good trout landed on dry MB patterns - 13", 17" 19.5" and the biggest at 20" which was weighed in the net at 3lb 2oz. All the fish were in superb condition for this time of year.
