Another lovely day, though quiet in terms of surface action. The only hatch occurred between 11.30-12.15, and accounted for half the fish caught. No fly thereafter. The rest were caught prospecting with a duo. Successful flies were March Brown Jinglers and emergers, Pinkhamers and Duracell nymph.

What a day I had fishing the top 4 pools all day, netting so many fish I just didn't need to move. 19 grayling and 8 trout to the net. Mostly being taken from top pool between 730am and 11am on a double nymph set up, pink+white and orange+green being my most successful colours couldn't get them back in the water quick enough before I was setting my hook again. At around 11am the surface turned in to a bubbling cauldron and they stopped feeding from the bottom. Landed a double brownie around 930 and a 2lbish grayling was the icing on the cake and I finished my day around 3pm and went a celebrated with a fantastic steak dinner in Llangollen. Was meant o be traveling to Scotland first thing the next morning but I booked up for another go in the morning. Was back on the water for 730 am and nymphd untill 11am. Another 5 fish to the net 3 grayling 2 trout. One of the trout being around the 1.5lb mark. Gave me a good 5/10 minute battle and one of my most memorable hook ups. I will be returning again once I manage to convince the Mrs ????

Just a word on this beat and continuation from another angler's comments: it's probably the most filthy bit of water I've ever fished. Strewn metal, plastic in the willows, tyres, tubes, pretty much anything you could imagine. However, fishing was alright on a cold day! Trout came on bright nymphs early and a swung muddler later as nothing was rising but a small hatch of olives took off.

Slow day today, huge hatch of match browns, several fish taking them off the top but weren’t interested in any of my flies never mind good couple of days.

River fairly low but running clear and looked in excellent condition. Caught a couple of lovely trout trout in the morning but the afternoon was quiet after a good hatch and rise around lunchtime.

One lovely grayling and a small trout on a small nymph. Bright sunny day, warm for the time of year. The river was crystal clear and apparently empty of fish, but I managed to winkle a couple out with persistence. Really nice beat. I've fished the Abby Dore Court beat a few times and that's lovely too, but this has more fishable water for its length. I'll fish it again. Me and the dog went home tired and happy.

A day of glorious weather! Really did feel like spring although no-one told the fish. We are always keen to get our first session in and the weather forecast certainly encouraged us. A few olives hatching but not a single fish seen moving - the river is low and the sun was bright. By 5pm we were back at the bridge by the house so walked up from there and after a day of fruitlessly matching the hatch all day Jim tied on a ginger Jingler. First cast in to the fast water … wallop! A lovely 15” trout. Saved the blank!
