Fished lower field. Really only one fishable swim. Tried two others but standing room only, not very level and immensely uncomfortable. Fished 1330-2100 and caught chub steadily on pellet and meat, alongside feeder with wetted pellet. Not a sniff of a barbel. Disappointing. Good chub fishing but not the intended quarry. Could probably have caught one chub a chuck on the float.

River was up a bit with colour in the morning, dropped by the evening. Fished the upper section. Nice water with deeper water at the top and shallow faster water by the fire. Barbel came from 2nd swim up from the fire but went quite about 1pm. Moved to the fire swim for the evening and lost 2 barbel due to using long shank hooks. First time I’ve pulled out a barbel so not using them again. Shame about the fire as the beat is quality otherwise. Barbel covered in lice. Not sure if £25 is a fair price anymore given the river not being at its best. Just saying! End on a positive, there are a few salmon in the top pool.

Just popped for a few hours in the midday and managed to winkle out a beautiful 7 1/2 lbs barbel. River looks ideal and weather was overcast. Nice beat.

Rain on and off all day, to dangerous for safety reasons to fish any upstream pegs. Managed to fish one down stream peg all be it with two ropes one to a tree half way down and one to a screw bank stick.( very slippy.)Had an enjoyable day once down on the flat. River rose six inches while fishing. Finished with two barbel best 7.5lb and 15 chub up to 4..5 lb.

Great days fishing, considering difficult conditions very slippery banks, dog spike essential in the wet.
Fished 3 swims that we could get in, picked up fish throughout the day
