Fished this beat in the morning and Dinas in the afternoon. A tough day with four trout caught in total (two from Abercynrig). Three to a PTN and one on a deer hair emerger. Colder than expected with a brief sporadic hatch mid-afternoon. A beautiful part of the Usk.

Enjoyable day fishing both Dinas and Abercynrig. Reasonable flush of small upwings during the morning but sadly little interest from the fish. All fish caught from faster water using either traditional upstream nymph tactics or Klink & Dink. Nothing huge with a mixture of palm of your hand sized stuff to the occasional fish around the pound mark. Good fun!

River at perfect level: no fly hatch but all four trout fell to PTN in a mad half hour mid-afternoon on the flats at the top of the beat

Booked both Dinas and Abercynrig. Arrived at river to find a small dirty spate. 1 trout only on Abercynrig, on nymph, in addition to 1 trout on Dinas. Both about half pound. See Dinas report.

A great beat with good access. No shortage of trout or salmon jumping about. 6 takes on dry flies and ptn but no fish for tea ... :-(
