A great day's fishing at Abercynrig. Despite a cool downstream breeze and fishing upstream dry fly, I managed 24 fish, the best about 2lb but an average of about 3/4lb each. Fish rose steadily through the day on and off and I had 14 by 6pm but the place came alive in the evening with good hatches of fly and larger fish moving to them in the deeper water. All fish were returned safely.

A surprisingly chilly downstream wind kept the fish down in the water, until a brief hatch at 3pm saw splashy rises from smaller fish. Took an 8" trout on size #14 parachute adams.

A nice beat with parking on the bank. Bright sunshine and a strong downstream breeze made it challenging, but eventually after being broken by one fish and having little snatches from 5 or 6, I managed to hook one. Will return.

Red letter afternoon/Evening! Brought 16 beautiful trout to hand all in a few hours…
Shared between nymphs, spiders and LDOs..

Beat was clean, easily accessible and in great shape.

Fished from late afternoon into the evening the sport was tremendous plenty of fish moving and a constant trickle of fly on the water all fish came to dry olive patterns only one smalley caught everything else was good size with two fish pushing two pounds .

Started at 6pm, explored the bottom by the bridge for the first time and a few started rising from 7pm, refused dun, but took jingler when covered properly. Moved up, and on way up saw a salmon jump in the bottom pool by the wood. Found a major bit of spinner mopping going on in the long glide. 11 fish brough to hand in an hr, with several others lost. Relly nice mix of sizes from 8oz to 2lb. 4 where over a lb, 7 under. Saw a really big one (5lb+ jump) and half an hr later it started rising. It's back was enourmous, but I was 18" short when I tried to cover it and I caught its wingman which put it down. All the trout were fighting incrediby hard in the fresh water after the small rise. 8oz fish fought like pounders, the 2lber took me 8 mins to land. Massive hatch of caenis, blowing like snow into my face, but thankfully the fish were locked onto spinners from teh morning hatch and munched the #16 sparsely tied jingler when you got the drift right. It was still going on when I pulled out at 9.30pm.

Cloudy, windy and quite cold but a late hatch delivered some good sport. All fish returned
