Water extremely high, fast, and coloured (had been raining for a week beforehand) and burst its banks in multiple places. Unfishable in these conditions. Had a look at several beats from Horsehoe falls, the golf course/ Ddoll Issa section, and Bather's beat - same story everywhere. Going to take a few days of dry weather for the water to work its way out of the system before fly fishing is possible (for me at least!). Tight Lines

First time on this beat. More walking than fishing, scouting as much as possible on a short winters day. Fish caught on Czech nymphs, oos trout and largest grayling 12”.

Conditions a little challenging as the river was a good 0.5M above normal height water clarity clear good visibility
Successful float fishing with centrepin using bolo float method, successful baits red maggot and worm fished below Trevor
Stopped loose feeding as this turned the fish off - good day all things considered
Fished for 3 hours size between 6 oz and 12 oz each fish
Lost one good sized fish - not sure of species

spent quite a bit of the day exploring this beat , I parked near the falls at the bottom end which means a lot of walking to the top ( and climbing when you get there ! ) conditions much better today, no wind or leaves but river still up and fast making wading difficult. fishing also very difficult with grayling to 13" and oos trout to 12" ( spoke to one angler the day before who blanked,) so I guess I didn't do too bad. had to miss out on two fields on the way back due to a rather large bull near the water.

Popped onto the river near the chain bridge restaurant for an hour before dusk. Landed 4, lost 1 between the two of us. Still a lot of water to manage getting your flies into!

River was coming down off a very high week (according to the locals :) but was fishable. Spent the better part of my two hours out trying to figure out where I could wade without dying! Very slick to wade, but managed two small brownies on some sort of jigged Czech nymph pattern.

THis was the first time that we had visited the water and were so impressed by the setting , the countryside and the river. We fished the section from Pendre to the Horshoe falls, wading in the morning from the south bank and the from the bank in the afternoon on the northside. We had no interest although we did see an amount of activity. We are plainly not doing something right. Great day though thoroughly reccommended.
