A lovely beat with plenty of varied fishing. Spend all day trying to tempt the rising trout with (all sorts of) dries, and exploring with (all sorts of) nymphs. Finally at 6pm landed a beautiful 1.5 pounder with a dry fly in surprisingly shallow water. It made my day! First trout on the Usk, and a beauty. Safely returned.

Dry and sunny most of the day, and little visible fish activity. Fish caught on same spider patterns as previous day (Partridge & Orange, Waterhen Bloa) on down and across method. All around the 6-8" size.

Ideal conditions in all respects, with a cold persistent north westerly. Large hatches of fly, however very very few fish feeding. Fished both dry and wet. Superb day, despite zero return . Beautiful stretch of river.

Two beautiful and (for me) large trout - 16" and 12" caught on Partridge and Orange and Waterhen Bloa respectively - in heavy rain. Some rising fish, again in heavy rain, but only one take (missed) on Olive Dun

1 caught on small black streamer. 3 caught on dark olive dry fly inc 1kg fish. Other fish was a small Salmon parr.
