Lovely looking beat and has easy wading for most of its length and plenty of room if (like me) your casting is less than perfect. Thing is, it is quite deceptive. It looks like a lot of water but an awful lot of it is ankle-deep runs over gravel and stones. You really need to know WHERE to fish.
Temperature was c21c, overcast and the wind had miraculously dropped, so conditions were good. Water rather low for the time of year. Plenty of tiny terrestrials around and the odd aquatic insect but nothing rising other than the odd sprat. Tried a parachute Adams, a Klinkhamer and then the Duo with a deer hair emerger and a goldhead GRHE. I thought I was being reasonably stealthy but had no takes. A deceptively hard beat, I think. Saw a heron and a Kingfisher but it is a pretty expensive method of birdwatching...

Hottest day of the year. High sun. Low water. Definitely not trout fishing conditions. Not a fish rose all day. However, we managed to tease out a couple of nice fish. 10" and 12"+, using tungsten-weighted nymphs in the deeper runs. Very happy with these fish given the conditions.

Warm, overcast, light breeze, sporadic light hatches. No excuse really is there. However the Penpont trout had other ideas. Not many rising unfortunately. Three fish up to a pound that were hard won. Had to wait til 8pm for two of them on BWO. Daytime fish on parachute Adams. Hard work but very enjoyable.

A few fish rising in the morning, then very quiet the rest of the day. Water quite low, chilly wind blowing down river. Very enjoyable day despite only 1 fish which took a small green Klink. Hope to return for another attempt. Lovely beat.

Pretty hard going for two fish. It is a lovely beat and looks as though it should be a lot easier. Fish were rising but refusing to take almost everything !
