Despite pretty ideal conditions we could only manage 3 fish between us - all small but in great condition and great 'scrappers' - all safely returned.

3 Trout

A fantastic day, Olives and March Browns hatching, also a fall of black gnats when it warmed up around lunch time.
Saw some good fish moving, could not fool them all. Small CDC Emerger type flies and CDC and Elk worked on the rising fish I spotted.

16 Trout

Spinners trickling off the flats from late morning. Caught two trout, 8 inches and 12 inches on Klink and Kites Imperial but missed/lost others. Bit rusty, not fished for long while. Attractive beat - fished between bridges, will try other end next time...which will be soon!

2 Trout

3 hours fishing in the afternoon - no sign of insect life or fish. Used duo and down and across, but not a nibble.

Didn't start until 1.30pm and did not see any rises at all for the duration I was there, 4 hours. River was flowing quite steady, no fish caught, tried nymphing to no avail. This normally is a good beat, I will be back later in the year, warm and sunny day.

Some very challenging fishing, but enjoyable all the same, Hope to fish the Usk again soon.

12 Trout

This is a good beat which is not too hard to wade. Today was miserable, cold, misty and later on, rainy. Nil catch.

Tough day but enjoyable. The fish were returned.

Water still coming down after the rain 2 days ago and a cool breeze ,however managed a 13 inch fish on a gold head GRHE and a 12 inch in the brief March Brown hatch at 14.00. Lost 2 others. Fished 11.00 to 16.00.

Cold and water quite high made this a challenging few hours fishing. However this is a very fishy looking beat and I will return. One nice fish well over a pound to an Adams during a brief sporadic hatch of LDO's.
