Arrived with the intention of fishing the "evening rise" only to be rained off within an hour ! Some downpour it was too! Hope the young family camping opposite the house were ok. Nil caught.

Whatever happened to flaming June? Here we are with the days getting shorter but its still cold enough to fog our breath. This malarkey does not get any more predictable after 50 years of piscatorial perambulations.
With precipitation to the fore even the sheep couldn't be bothered to run away from us. But the fish did. What a struggle - despite a decent hatch. We finally managed a brownie each - a sympathy vote by the fish I think - but gave up at 4, cold and wet. Ah well - perhaps the weather might be better by Thursday?

Fishing tough, rain and wind all day. I did not see one rise thoroughout the river. Even though I didn't see or catch a fish I still like this beat will return when the weather warms up a bit.

A lovely afternoon with activity at about 3pm. One rising fish refused a gold-head, a pheasant's tail and a klinkhammer but took a dry olive on the first cast.

Was pleased to see the recent rain hadn't affected this beat when I arrived mid-morning. Due to the gusty winds and intermittent showers I decided to start fishing at the downstream end of the beat on a French nymph set-up.
I managed to pick up lots of small wbt using this method. Early afternoon saw me connect with something a little larger and after a good acrobatic display a 1 1/4lb wbt was in the net. Shortly after the heavens opened and taking cover was the only option. A 1hr wait followed and when the skies eventually cleared unfortunately the river had started to colour up. I persevered for another couple of hours but with nil return. Left the river early evening.

Quiet day on the river with few fish rising to the fly hatches. Fish around but only had 2 small ones on a gold head fishing with a Klinkhammer and perhaps 3 others missed.
Lovely beat with different types of water and stunning setting.
