A cold wet day with a very low river. Brown algae coated the bed making for slippery wading. Few fish seen and I blanked.
Fished the following day that started with similar weather That cleared into beautiful sunshine. Caught one decent fish on nymph, again very limited surface activity. Lovely surroundings.

A drizzly and cold day. Some sporadic spinner rises but fishing difficult. Caught half a dozen tiddlers and parrs. Some decent fish moving about but very skittish and in difficult to access part of river.

Two rods fished all day in hot sunshine for a total catch of one 7 inch trout. A beautiful beat but fish were simply not responding in the hot weather.

Challenging days fishing due to bright conditions. Fish very picky and only responding to very light tackle (8x leader - size 20 flies) despite excellent hatches. 2 caught and returned. Excellent day.

A hot summers day spent on a beautiful stretch of the Usk! The fishing was generally hard going, the hot, bright weather seemingly putting the fish off feeding. Final tally was around 20 fish between the two of us, largest around 0.75lbs. Stayed on till 2220 in the hope of a bumper spinner fall but unfortunately it wasn't too be! Oh well, still a wonderful day.

Unfortunately bright sunshine throughout the day made fishing extremely difficult. We managed 5 very small wbt between us. Nevertheless a great day on a terrific part of the river.

After a long walk up through woods to discover the end of the beat, we were rewarded with a fantastic stretch of river with which to try our luck. Wading was fairly easy with little of the treacherous river bed boulders and slabs experienced in other stretches of the Usk. We both fairly quickly managed to bag an 11" trout on dries in fast water. Further up river the opportunites reduced a little and in some places, fallen trees and deep water made access a little challenging. Sport slowed later in the day but we had some chances and missed them. Up river from the road bridge worth a try but on water wasn't quite as nice as the downstream stretches. All in, a fantastic day in truly awesome surroundings. Hope to be back soon.

Exciting days fishing on this beautiful stretch of river with 8 WBT caught up 16 inches, and many more missed. Fish were taken on a variety of dries and nymphs. Excellent evening rise provided great sport, and saw/heard several large sea trout.
